Apple considers shifting 15%-30% of output from China
Apple Inc. has asked its largest suppliers to consider the feasibility of shifting 15% to 30% of its output from China to Southeast Asia.
Tech giant is preparing for a restructuring of its supply chain
Stocks impacted: Apple Inc. (AAPL)
The move was triggered by the protracted trade tensions between Washington and Beijing. The iPhone maker has decided the risks of depending heavily on manufacturing in China are too great and even rising. The countries being considered include Mexico, India, Vietnam, Indonesia and Malaysia but China is a key market for Apple as well as a major production center for its devices. A deadline has not been set for the suppliers to finalize their business proposals. Yesterday, Apple stock rose by 2,35%.
