Boeing delays delivery of 777X version
Just weeks after announcing a delay in the first flight of the larger -9 variant, Boeing has put development of the long-ranging 777-8 on hold.
The company has pushed back the entry into service of an ultra-long-range version of its forthcoming 777X widebody

In its decision, the company cited the need to reduce risk in its development programme and ensuring a more seamless transition to the 777-8”. The delay will hamper Boeing’s ability to provide a plane in line with the schedule for Qantas Airways Ltd’s plan for Sydney-London flights and will also jeopardize competition with the European rival Airbus SE for a share of the ultra-long-haul travel market. The airframer gave no indication of how long the development will be put on hold for. On Wednesday, Boeing stocks declined nearly 2.5% and could go lower o the news.
