Intel Corp. is discussing outsourcing some of its chip production and is expected to reveal the outsourcing plans when company earnings come out on January 21. According to the latest reports, the company has talked with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co and Samsung Electronics Co about the Asian companies making some of its best chips. While Intel has outsourced production of lower-end chips before, it has kept the manufacturing of its best semiconductors in-house. Any components that Intel might source from Taiwan wouldn’t come to market until 2023. In turn, TSMC and Samsung representatives declined to comment. Against this backdrop, shares in Samsung Electronics closed Monday nearly 2.50% higher.
