Microsoft gets license to export software to Huawei
Huawei also wants to see a license for Google
Stocks impacted: Microsoft Corp (MSFT), Huawei Technologies Co Ltd. (002502)
After the Trump administration said earlier this week it would allow some suppliers to restart sales to Huawei, the U.S. Department of Commerce granted Microsoft's request for a license to export mass-market software to the Chinese telecoms giant. The license was most likely for the company's Windows operating system. Also, Huawei has been awaiting a license for Alphabet Inc's Google to supply its mobile services to new models. Huawei was blacklisted in May when it was added to the United States' entity list. Microsoft shares finished marginally lower on Thursday and could attract demand in today’s session as investors will likely cheer the news.
