Stocks impacted: Tesla Inc. (TSLA)
According to a tweet from Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Sunday, the company has canceled the most expensive variant of its flagship sedan, the Model S Plaid Plus. Model S Plaid+ was unveiled last year and Musk said it would adopt its next-generation 4680 battery cells. However, its production was pushed back to 2022 from the end of 2021. The Model S Plaid was scheduled to be unveiled at an event on June 3, which has been pushed to June 10. Meanwhile, the company has increased prices for different variants of its more popular Model 3 and Model Y vehicles in the U.S. several times this year. Musk said the cause of the price increase was also a supply chain problem. Tesla shares are up nearly 250% in the past 12 months, but down 15% year to date. On Friday, the company’s stocks finished 4.58% higher and could see a decline during the upcoming session.
