Poland's Office of Competition and Consumer Protection has imposed a fine of EUR 28.55 million on Volkswagen Group’s Polish branch, citing misleading customers over fuel emission levels and other issues. interestingly, that the fine size is the largest UOKiK has ever imposed for a breach of consumer rights. This is the latest chapter in a global emissions cheating scandal that has cost Volkswagen about 30 billion euros in fines. As a reminder, five years ago, the automaker admitted to cheating U.S. emissions tests on diesel engines.
